Finding Biketopia: From Pop-up to Permanent Bike Lanes

During the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, pop-up bike lanes were introduced in Berlin’s Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district as a measure to comply with the distance regulations. The poster illustrates the barriers and drivers that brought nearly all of the bike lanes to transition from pop-up to permanent during this period.

The project was developed in collaboration with the mobility department at IKEM (Institute for Climate Protection, Energy and Mobility) and published in February 2023. It is available for download at the following link: Finding Biketopia.
